Looking Forward, Looking Back

Looking Forward

As you’ve probably noticed, UbiquityHosting.com is looking a little different this week. Several site modifications are beginning here as we continue working to grow our dedicated hosting into it’s own entity, as well as it’s own web site.

Although our new location in Chicago, IL is not yet ready for action, it is our hope to begin a pre-launch sale sometime later this month, with a grand opening sometime in August. As the long anticipation of this move is expected to cause difficulties in keeping servers in stock in the first few months, we recommend anyone who is interested in getting into the new facility right away place a pre-order. When operationis at the new data center begin, we will offer the same specifications of servers that we’ve offered in the past with metered packages for 900 gigs and 1200 gigs, as well as the same 100mbit unmetered packages we have offered in the past. Pricing is expected to see a slight fluctuation due to a changing environment; but should stay relatively close to where it’s been. By and large, it will be the same old Ubiquity. Any questions about operations at the new data center may be addressed to sales (at) ubiquityhosting [dot] com.

Looking Back

It should be said that until recently, we admittedly haven’t done the best job of keeping our customers updated on current events. Today, we’ve posted all events from the Ubiquity Newswire covering the past 6 months of activity. These little nuggets of information don’t tell a whole lot, but we hope they will be helpful in providing a bit more of the history behind our company.

3 web site acquisition

June 25th, 2005

This past week Ubiquity bought out free cPanel hosting company
FreeWebsiteHost.net. As a result, 3 new web sites are to now operate within our network.
These sites are . . .

FreeWebsiteHost.net

MyWebHut.com

FreeForumHost.us

This action will account for one of the forementioned “new Ubiquity sites” referred to in the June 4th blog. Stay tuned for more action this week!

HostingCon 2005

June 9th, 2005

The staff of Ubiquity has just returned from HostingCon 2005 in Chicago, IL. If you weren’t there, you missed out on an amazing event. Over the course of the event we had the opportunity to meet with the heads of many other companies that will be playing a major role in the future of our company as the ground is laid for our second location and UbiquityServers.com. Thank you to everyone who made this event what it was, we hope to see everyone again next year!

If you weren’t able to make it this year, you can click here to see photos.

New Blog

June 4th, 2005

Many of you have noticed a total lack of information on the Ubiquity newswire as of late, and it’s not because nothing has been happening. The truth of the matter is that there’s just too much happening to even attempt fitting into one of our usual two-line blips. So here it is . . .

In Shared Hosting . . .
We’ve added PostGresSql, SpamAssassin, and AppVault features to all accounts, three very advanced features included within the Plesk control panel. Also, Plesk has been upgraded to version7.5.3 Reloaded, which should provide better CP functionality all around. The largest highlight of this update can be seen in Horde’s latest IMP webmail software. All webmail accounts are now fully customizable and are loaded with several new features.

UbiquityServers.com . . .
As we continue to expand, we have come to the decision that one web site is no longer enough to hold Ubiquity. Plans have been fully laid out for a network of 7 hosting-related websites that will revolve around UbiquityHosting.com, the next of which will be UbiquityServers.com. The overall purpose of this decision to seperate our diverse services into into their own entities in order to ensure that all of our dedicated clients recieve the specialized attention they deserve, while also giving special attention in advancing the services themselves. Upon launch this July, we will be resuming metered server sales at Team Technologies, as well as adding Disaster Recovery and Colocation services.

Plans are also still in the works to open our second colocation. The overall intent of this operation will be to act as our Value Network to provide our clients a solution that we can provide cheaper than our InterNAP /Dell / N+1 layout in Cedar Falls. At this time we will also be resuming our unmetered campaigns to cater to our clients that require more bandwidth. More information on this will soon follow.
